Connection check

Run it on a device connected to Vessel to confirm that your traffic goes through a Vessel node and that Vessel's resolvers answer your DNS lookups.

The check compares the address this request comes from with the Vessel nodes' addresses and returns only whether they match. The portal does not log IP addresses. The DNS part connects to four anoni.net test addresses, and the server does not log those connections.

When a check fails

The exit

Check that this device's tunnel is turned on in AmneziaWG and that the app shows a recent latest handshake. On Android, Vessel cannot connect while another VPN app has Always-on VPN turned on.

Android says the VPN service was not authorized?

DNS

When the browser has “secure DNS” turned on, or an app sets its own DNS, lookups skip Vessel's resolvers and the DNS filter does not apply. If the exit passed but DNS did not, turn off the browser's secure DNS and check again.

how DNS filtering works

When both pass

If a particular site will not load, it may block VPN addresses, or the DNS filter may be blocking it by mistake. Try a device in another city, or create one with no filtering to compare.
